Our new E36 cat back is a tribute to the E36 M3 in more ways than one. The exhaust features 90s styling exhaust tips to compliment the sharp yet rudimentary body lines. Just like the E36 our exhaust was designed to be raw, straight to the point, lightweight and timeless.

To accomplish these goals our engineers rev’d up their creativity and went straight to work. Adapting straight to the mid-pipes our engineers transformed the lackluster 2.0” tubing and stepped up to a true-dual 2.5” exhaust with an integrated x-pipe to smooth out the flow and fine tune the exhaust note just how we wanted. Towards the rear of the vehicle you will find a light-weight and perfectly spec’d muffler featuring fabricated sheet metal hangers, slash cut integrated tips and achieves a fine-tuned exhaust note.

Non-M Fitment:
?Although we designed this exhaust specifically for the M3 model we felt it was a shame to rob this exhaust opportunity from the Non-M E36 owners. Face it, every straight six deserves a sweet exhaust. If you or your fellow enthusiasts feel so inclined our exhaust can be fitted to all standard 6 cylinder E36s. ** For non-m E36s you will have to slightly bend the exhaust hangers to get perfect fitment in the non-m rear bumper/diffuser. **

Why the upgrade?

Our signature muffler design allows you to transfer the exhaust valve from your factory system directly onto your new Turner system. The Turner exhaust signature muffler design allows for two flow paths that change both tone and volume. With the vehicle in eco or comfort mode, the valves remain closed, with the closed valves the exhaust system allows the gasses to flow through the muffler toning down the volume and giving a more refined exhaust note. While in driving modes sport or sport+ the valve opens and the flow path changes to a "straight flow path" essentially turning into a straight-piped exhaust for the least amount of restriction and the most amount of B58 sound!

Upgraded aesthetics:

From the factory, the G chassis comes equipped with fake or imitation exhaust tips, our Turner exhaust allows you to remove the imitation tips from the vehicle and sport a set of 4 true exhaust tips giving that upgraded motorsport styling.

How the cat-back is designed:

To create a cat-back exhaust for this incredible vehicle the upgrade happens right at the downpipe. We replaced the factory components with our full 3.0" T304 stainless steel piping. The true 3.0" exhaust makes its way through the center and rear of the car without the center muffler or resonator to keep the flow to a maximum! With smooth mandrel bent transitions our exhaust passes perfectly under the rear subframe for a factory equivalent fit. Positioned in the rear of the car is our signature B58 muffler with beautiful inlet and outlet piping that creates the perfect exhaust tuning. Featuring relief cut slip joints and fabricated sheet metal brackets the exhaust can be fully adjusted and mounted seamlessly in the factory locations. Quad 3.5" exhaust tips are optioned to fill out the open space in the rear diffuser and complete the rear profile of the vehicle.

Looking to elevate the acoustics of your X3 M40i / X4 M40i with an exhaust system that not only offers a much-improved sound while retaining the flexibility associated with valves, but also raises the eye appeal beyond the mundane? Look no further than the Dinan valved cat-back to meet all your needs… and then some! 

The full cat-back requires no cutting and utilizes factory mounting locations that allow the Dinan exhaust system to be a straightforward and painless install. Fabricated from brushed 100% T304 stainless steel, TIG welded, and free of hydroformed pipe, the upgraded system is also a marked improvement from its predecessor - both in terms of material/construction as well as in overall looks. The most glaring change being the replacement of the OEM dual slip tips in favor of an M-inspired quad tip configuration. Despite the limited room, Dinan was determined to offer four individually functioning pathways/tips and not lessen the representation with Y-tips or other gimmickry.  The result is a proper quad setup furnished with cavity covering 3.75-inch (95mm) tips in either black ceramic or polished stainless ensuring the system can be appreciated even before it is heard.

While looks are important, the auditory advantages are what any enthusiast is truly after with an exhaust system, and the Dinan offering for the G01/G02 M40i platform delivers in spades. For not only aural enhancement via the elimination of the central collector/resonator, but also weight savings and simplicity. The stock single-to-dual pipe setup has been abandoned in favor of an enlarged, straight, unrestricted, and freer-flowing single pipe system. This pathway feeds into a Helmholtz-equipped muffler that limits frequencies associated with drone, as well as assists in altering the overall tone of the setup to deliver the signature low Dinan rumble. The no-nonsense design allows versatility in volume levels with the retained factory valve functionality. Go from refined when cruising (low RPM’s) to rowdy when in it (high RPM’s), with ease. Or better yet, pair the system with an exhaust valve remote and have full control of elevating or reducing the sound! When open, the system behaves as a straight pipe solution that promotes maximum flow and volume for an exhilarating and forceful chorus. When the valve is closed, however, exhaust gases are wholly redirected through the muffler and emit more tempered vocals acceptable for even the most sensitive ears. It is the perfect blend of civility when cruising or the full spectrum of auditory delight when in the throttle. No matter the situation, the Dinan valved cat-back exhaust system is the answer for the discerning enthusiast looking for sound without sacrifice.
