The engine crankcase breather hose is a vital part of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system, responsible for directing pressurized air from the engine crankcase to the air/oil separator, also known as the PCV valve. This separator removes oil vapors from the air, allowing the oil to return to the engine while feeding the filtered air back into the intake system to support efficient combustion.
As a byproduct of the combustion process, positive crankcase pressure naturally builds up in the engine. The breather hose operates under constant exposure to heat, pressure, and an air/oil vapor mixture, making it prone to wear and failure over time. Ensuring the breather hose is in proper working condition is crucial for maintaining engine performance, adhering to emissions standards, and preserving the functionality of the PCV system. Promptly replace this component at the first signs of damage or degradation to avoid further complications.

BMW has an ongoing issue with oil separators freezing in cold weather if driving is done before the vehicle is fully warmed up. There is often a howling noise followed by numerous oil leaks. The crankcase breather valve is used to purge the oil vapor from the engine block into the valve cover. However, sometimes condensation can cause it to freeze, causing the entire oil separator system to fail, crack, and disintegrate.
Replace this and all the other components of the oil separator system to prevent damage to all the aspects of your engine. As long as you have everything off, you can rest assured that new parts will last and be reliable.

BMW Oil Separator Valve | E38 E39 540i 740i 740iL M62 4.4L Engine is an essential component designed to maintain optimal engine performance by purging oil vapors from the engine block into the valve cover. This valve features four hoses connecting it to the dipstick, valve cover, and air intake system, ensuring efficient crankcase ventilation. BMW engines, especially in colder climates, are known to experience issues with oil separators freezing if the engine isn't properly warmed up, leading to symptoms such as howling noises followed by oil leaks.

This is the adapter fitting that is required to convert your N54 to external PCV if you want to keep your crankcase under vacuum at idle, and anytime you have a vacuum condition in your intake manifold. They are made from 6061-T6 with black anodizing for a long-lasting finish. Includes complete adapter, with all o-rings, and retaining clip.
This must be used in conjunction with the Vargas billet check valve, and PCV delete fitting or requires plugging of the intake PCV ports. Installs inline on the throttle body, and adds a -8AN male to adapt to a catch cans, or any custom set up.
