This system is the result of countless hours of R&D to obtain the perfect combination of performance and sound. Constructed of 100% 304 TIG welded stainless steel, Active Autowerke has created a modular exhaust system that will provide enough flow to support power levels way above the stock S55. The stock S55 Midpipe is a dual-pipe system from each turbo that leads to the rear muffler. The resulting sound is far from pleasant, and without any real scavenging effect the turbo lag is fairly pronounced. By converting to a single 3.5" pipe directly after the downpipes, AA's system promotes exhaust scavenging along with higher exhaust velocity to produce a quicker spool, more power, and a much smoother exhaust note.

The Active Autowerke F87 Mid Pipe was specifically designed to eliminate the highly restrictive nature of the S55 – thus creating optimal exhaust flow and drastically improving performance. In addressing the annoying sound ( described by many like that of a weed-eater ) we needed to better understand the issue. After much research and testing we discovered the synchronization of the Turbos as the main factor in the sound. The solution was a single mid pipe which eliminated much of the annoying sound. The next challenge was making a large 3.5" pipe ( needed for optimum performance ) fit without ground clearance issues - thus the oval pipe. Engineered for an exact fit on the new BMW M2 Competition, the difference in power with this mid pipe will be noticeable the moment it is installed! Factory-fit specifications are followed closely, yet AA's system allows 14lbs in weight savings as opposed to the factory BMW exhaust. This exhaust features the Active Autowerke Muffler and Noise Cancellation Chamber to assist in reducing/eliminating drone. Manufactured from 100% brushed 304 stainless steel, this clamp-on system is suited for the N52 owner looking to bring their BMW's performance to new heights. NOTE: This exhaust may not easily fit some of the XI (4WD) and Station Wagon Models - welding may be required for proper fitment of the exhaust to stock pipe.
