BMW’s turbocharged B48 and B58 engines use a water-to-air charge air cooling system, with a front-mounted heat exchanger responsible for heat dissipation. Unfortunately, the factory single-row, 25mm core design is quick to heat soak under high load, leading to excessive intake air temperatures and potential limp mode conditions—especially on modified or track-driven cars.
ECS Tuning’s High Performance Aluminum Heat Exchanger was developed in-house as a direct replacement and upgrade over the factory unit. Designed for durability and maximum cooling efficiency, this heat exchanger is a must-have for high-horsepower street builds, spirited canyon driving, and extended track sessions. Built from TIG-welded 6061-T6 aluminum, the ECS unit eliminates the factory plastic end tanks—one of the system’s most common failure points. Each heat exchanger features CNC-machined billet aluminum hose connections, mounting flanges, and brackets for perfect OE fitment and trouble-free installation.
To drastically improve thermal efficiency, the factory 25mm single-row core has been replaced with a dual-row, 42mm performance core, offering a 72% increase in thickness. This expanded design nearly doubles coolant volume, allowing for greater heat dissipation, reduced intake air temperatures, and more consistent power delivery.

This BladeRunner Intercooler represents the next generation of intercoolers. Designed specifically for the 2007-2010 BMW 335i (E9X) L6-3.0L (tt) N54 engines, this BladeRunner intercooler utilizes a 5" bar and plate core design. This design outflows the factory tube and fin core design, while the 3/16" TIG-Welded end tanks offer superior strength and durability. In testing, this intercooler showed gains up to +14 horsepower and +18 lbs. x ft. without any type of tune, and dropped the intake air temperature up to 10 degrees.

Utilizes the factory mounting locations for a hassle-free installation. The billet 2 1/2" intercooler inlet utilizes a factory style quick connect to assure compatibility with the factory hot side inlet tube. The supplied cold side tube retains the factory style throttle body quick connect and retains the factory diverter valve connections. This kit will not work with the factory cold side intercooler tubing.
