These N55 downpipes feature larger piping and catalytic converter that are freer-flowing than the original cats for better flow and less backpressure. By removing exhaust restrictions the turbos can spool up faster which makes more boost sooner. With additional tuning, more power is available. There are downpipes that delete the primary cats and can leave the exhaust with a dirty and awful smell. These Wagner downpipes are built with a sport cat to keep the exhaust cleaner.Special software, or stand-alone engine management, will be required to keep emissions fault codes and check engine lights from appearing.

This tuned resonator section replaces the factory resonator and works with the Supersprint muffler for a new, more aggressive, but still tame, exhaust note. The resonator is tuned along with the rest of the exhaust to give a more sporty sound than the factory 128i resonator but still meet European noise regulations. If you want more sound after this, there is a resonator-delete pipe available as well.

With less restriction, less effort is required to move the exhaust gasses which will free up horsepower and torque. This cat section will mount to the Supersprint downpipes (p/n 980211) and to the Supersprint section 2. This section is built with O2 sensor bungs pre-installed after the cat if you wanted to extend your stock post-cat O2 sensors (however, special software may still be needed).

HJS is now a worldwide leader in sport cat technology and performance. Rally cars, German DTM, and Formula 3 all rely on HJS for clean, reliable horsepower. Supersprint works closely with HJS to spec a catalytic converter that is correct for the vehicle and engine package. This allows for a substantial increase in flow but which, at the same time, keeps the environmental specs within European limits.
