Kindly note that this muffler is of universal fit for rear exhaust and may necessitate welding or fabrication for installation, as it is not a direct bolt-on component for any specific vehicle.
Constructed for durability with a tight weave, this heat wrap is designed to maintain proper thermal properties in your vehicles exhaust system. This material was hand selected specifically for it's heat characteristics and flexibility. Fiberglass is rated for 1200 degrees, however, this titanium wrap can withstand 1800 degrees!

These front straight pipes replace the front cat section or front resonator on Euro-spec exhausts. Euro models were either equipped with a cat or a resonator. These Supersprint pipes only install with the rest of the Supersprint Euro exhaust. This section is also used on US-spec models when upgrading to the Supersprint or BMW Euro headers.

Fitment Note: This section 1 is based on the Euro-spec exhaust system which is different than the US exhaust layout. It will bolt on to the Euro M5/M6 headers using the original 3-bolt flanges. The US exhaust has a different manifold and 2-bolt flanges.

It features oversized dual 50mm stainless steel pipes leading from the catalytic converter. This Supersprint system has a center resonator and rear muffler with free-flow designs for a sporty sound and less restriction to free up horsepower. Both systems are bolt-on to the stock factory catalytic converter (see fitment notes below) and use all of the stock hangers and gaskets. This makes for an excellent replacement exhaust system because the sound is such a great match to the M30 engine and retro cool that these cars have now. It's a classic growl and throaty sound without being overly aggressive. We've had nothing but compliments on the sound from this system. The previous mild steel versions have been discontinued - this system is now 100% T304 stainless steel!

Fitment Notes: This system is not a direct fit with the US catalytic converter section. The factory system is connected with 2-bolt flanges but the Supersprint Euro system is based on the Euro 3-bolt flanges. The US cat section flanges must be removed and replaced with the triangular 3-bolt flange (BMW p/n 18111178137) and gaskets (p/n 18301723886). Or, conversely, remove the 3-bolt flanges from the Supersprint and re-weld the old 2-bolt flanges from the stock resonator section.

One area where the US M5/M6 is different than a more-powerful Euro-spec model is in the exhaust. The US M5/M6 got a header design with smaller pipes that is more restrictive. These Supersprint headers are based on the Euro design (no longer available through BMW USA) but are slightly larger tubes for better performance. The stepped design is a favorite of M3 header designs and originated in Formula 1 engines. These headers also feature Supersprint's precision-engineered merge collectors on each bank that greatly improves exhaust flow and does not impede velocity.

Fitment note: this system is based on the Euro design with 3-bolt flanges (the US used 2-bolt flanges). You will need the factory Euro center section or the Supersprint center section for this to be a direct bolt on. We recommend using this with the full Supersprint system (front center pipes, rear center resonator, and rear muffler) for the easiest install and the best sound.

Fitment Note 1 (flanges):
1982-1988 635, 1984-1988 535 models should have a stock 3-bolt flange where the center resonator and front catalytic converter meet. This Supersprint system is a direct bolt-on replacement to this system.
1988-1989 635 BMW changed the center resonator and cat flanges from a 3-bolt triangle to a 2-bolt diamond-shaped flange. The Supersprint center resonator uses the 3-bolt flange. So you must either cut off the 3-bolt flange and reinstall the original 2-bolt flange. Or cut the 2-bolt flange from the cat and weld on a new 3-bolt flange (BMW p/n 18111178137 and gaskets p/n 18301723886, available separately).
Fitment Note 2 (hangers):
This system was originally designed for the Euro E24/E28 which does not have the rear hanger attachment over the tips like on a US model (you will need the Euro hanger setup). In addition the tips are shorter on the Euro muffler since the Euro bumpers do not extend as far as the US bumpers. So the tips on this muffler will sit just past the valance but tucked far under the bumper.
