Over time, the transmission fluid becomes thick and the filter becomes contaminated with small metal particles. This can cause excess wear, high transmission operating temperatures, and eventual failure. To prevent this we recommend changing your filter, fluid, and seals to ensure your transmission continues to operate flawlessly. We recommend filter and fluid changes every 50,000 miles. If you have to drop or pull your transmission for any reason, the input shaft is one of the best "while it's out" maintenance items you can replace. Worn out input shaft seals can allow transmission fluid to leak out, possibly shortening its life if the fluid level gets too low. This repair kit includes the basic component needed to replace this seal.
